The HSPD-12 Interoperability Consortium is a partnering of industry leading vendors
committed to providing an interoperable solution to government agencies and system
integrators which address the challenges and opportunities of complying with the White
House issued
Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12).
HSPD-12 was signed on August 27, 2004, in response to the general threat of
unauthorized access to physical facilities and logical IT assets. HSPD-12 applies to all
government employees and contractors. The primary objective is the development and
deployment of a Federal Government-wide common and reliable identification verification
system that will be interoperable among all Government agencies and serve as the basis
for reciprocity between those agencies by the
compliance deadline of October 27, 2006.
